We are proud to be part of the Lions Club International family. Lions Club International is the largest community service organization in the world.
We have over 45,000 clubs with 1.35 million members in over 200 countries.
Please look around our web site to get a feel for the kind of projects our club is sponsoring for the betterment of the Henniker Community .Everyday our club members work hard at fulfilling the mission challenge put forth by Hellen Keller in 1925 when she challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Since then, we have worked tirelessly to aid the visually and hearing impaired.
Henniker Lions Community Garden
Organized by club members Jerry and Kathy Eisen, the Henniker Lions Community Garden provides fresh produce to the Henniker Food Pantry, Warner Food Pantry, Hopkinton Food Pantry, Bradford Food Pantry, Henniker Community School, and local Henniker Seniors. The garden is completely maintained by volunteer efforts. We are always looking for helpers. You will find us in the garden Tuesdays 6pm-7pm and Saturdays 9am-10am from snow melt to first frost.
Henniker Lions along with other clubs in district 44 provide sight screenings to local children in schools and daycare settings. The top of the line technology is able to detect possible sight problems early and refer children to an Optomotrist for further diagnosis. Lions Clubs provide vouchers for appointments and for eye wear for those in need.
Henniker Lions Club 5K
1st Sunday in June, this 5k raises funds for Fuel Assistance, scholarships for students, Environmental Camp for 7th grade, Washington D.C. Field Trip for 8th Grade, and other community requests.
Fun filled community day 4th Sunday in April. Families and community members gather at the Old Concord Rd. Fields in Henniker to fly kites. Local kite flying experts offer their expertise while kids, and adults enjoy free kites provided by the Henniker Lions Club.
Raising money through a variety of fundraisers the Henniker Lions Club works with our local C.A.P (Community Action Program) to provide funds to local families needing fuel assistance during the cold winter months.
Safe Routes to School and Bike Rodeo
Henniker Lions work with Henniker Community School to provide volunteers for the Safe Routes to School and Bike Rodeo programs. Safe Routes to School is a program designed to show students how to safely get to school from certain points in town. On designated days Henniker Lions along with community volunteers and students walk to school highlighting safe routes. The Bike Rodeo is a similar event that offers free bike tune ups, helmet safety, and biking safety.
